These are images showing the character’s movement in each block of the blocking stage. As a reference, I used videos from the YouTube channel [Motion Actor Inc](https://www.youtube.com/@MotionActorInc/videos).
For the next step, I start to make Polishing animation.
This is the video after polished the blocking animation.
The detailed camera work settings are shown in the images above. The sequence begins with a close-up of the side profile of the 3D character, then zooms out, followed by a half-circle camera movement around the character. It ends with a close-up from the front as the character finishes their pose, with the camera slightly pulling back in sync with the character’s movement. For the camera motion, I took inspiration from dancer promotional videos and drone advertisement videos.
Through Project 3, I gained a deeper appreciation for the complexity and technical challenges of creating 3D animation. While the blocking phase went relatively smoothly, the polishing stage proved to be particularly demanding. I faced repeated issues such as joints bending unnaturally, limbs moving in unintended directions, and body parts intersecting—requiring constant adjustments and fine-tuning.
Additionally, rendering the final animation took an unexpectedly long time due to my computer’s limited specifications. The export process alone took four days, making my computer nearly unusable during that time.
Despite these obstacles, this project significantly improved my understanding of 3D animation techniques. I became more confident in manipulating keyframes and adjusting motion curves to create more natural and believable movements. I also developed a better sense of timing and animation flow.
Overall, this project not only helped me grow my technical skills, but also reinforced my motivation to continue learning and practicing 3D animation independently in the future.
