WORK

Project 1 - Audio Dubbing

For this task, we need to put voices and sound effects to the non sound video.

First, we make Audio sheet and find the sound. After that, we record the voice part by own self. There have men voice part and women voice part so we need to edit the voice by using voice changer from Adobe Premiere Pro.

( Audio Sheet )

This is my Audio Sheet for this project. This work was created collaboratively with group members assigned by the lecturer. I was responsible for Scenes 2 and 4, and also supported the production of Scene 5.

( Sound effect that I used )

Those are sound effects that I used to this video.

( Edit screen of Premiere Pro 1 )

This is the editing screen for this project. The purple bars indicate silent video clips that require sound to be added for this task. The green bars represent the voice and sound effects. Since there are limited audio slots available, there are some differences, but generally, the first and second audio tracks are used for voices, while the rest are used for sound effects.

( Edit screen of Premiere Pro 2 )

For the women voice, s
ince I can't produce a female voice, I used the Pitch Shifter feature in Premiere Pro to change my voice to a higher, more feminine pitch.

( Edit screen of Premiere Pro 3 )

One detail I focused on was the final scene where the pipe hits the woman’s head. Instead of simply using a generic impact sound, I combined two types of sounds: the sound of a pipe hitting an object, and the sound of something hitting a human head. This layering created a more realistic sound effect. The pipe sound, in particular, was my own original idea and is not listed in the Sound Sheet.

This is the completed video.

Project 1B

We are required to edit the provided audio in this assignment so that it sounds like it is echoing or resonating within the specified space.

For this task, we use Adobe Audition.

This is the editing screen of phone call sound.
I recreated the narrow, muffled sound of a phone call by cutting frequencies below 300Hz and above 3kHz, while boosting around 1kHz. No reverb was used to keep the voice dry and direct.

Next is voice from inside of the closet.
To simulate a muffled voice inside a closet, I reduced the high frequencies above 5kHz and boosted the 250–400Hz range to add a sense of enclosed space. A short room reverb with prominent early reflections was applied to mimic the small confined environment.

Third one is sound in underground cave.
For the underground cave, I boosted around 120Hz to emphasize low-frequency resonance and reduced some low mids (300–400Hz) to clear muddiness. High frequencies were slightly cut to darken the tone. A long hall reverb with pre-delay was added to create a spacious and cavernous feel.

Last sound it Alien/Orc voice.
To create a heavy and eerie voice, I boosted low frequencies between 80–120Hz and 200–300Hz while cutting highs above 5kHz to add roughness. A medium-length dark reverb was used to emphasize the alien and monstrous atmosphere.

REFLECTION

Through Project 1A, I learned the importance of sound effects in video. At first, the video only had voice and visuals, making it very plain and difficult to convey emotions. However, by adding sound effects, the video became more engaging and realistic, allowing the atmosphere to be felt more clearly and making it easier to enjoy.

I also learned how to use a new tool in Premiere Pro called “Pitch Shifter.” Since I couldn’t create a female voice naturally, I used this tool to raise the pitch of my own voice. It was my first time doing this, but I believe I acquired a useful skill.

In Project 1B, I used Adobe Audition to apply EQ settings to create various sound environments. For example, I cut low and high frequencies to reproduce the narrow bandwidth of a phone call, boosted mid frequencies to emphasize the muffled voice inside a closet, and increased low frequencies with longer reverb to simulate the resonance of an underground cave. Through this, I understood that EQ and reverb play an important role in shaping the mood and realism of sound.

This project helped me gain a deeper understanding of sound design. I realized that sound is very important in making good videos.
