WORK

Project 1A - Character Design

In this task, Make a Character for Animation.
First, I search the mini characters for getting some ideas for my character.

( The reference image for my character )

I found this character from the internet and I decided to create a character for this assignment based on the character in the photo above.

( The character I draw )

This is the character that I made.

And, Character turnaround sheet, Character Expression Sheet and Character Pose sheet are below.

For making character pose sheet, I use three pictures for reference.

In Project 1A, I truly realized once again how challenging character creation can be. I’m not very skilled at drawing to begin with, which has given me a sense of insecurity about it. When drawing poses, I had to erase and redraw multiple times before I could finally complete the work.

Project 1B - Back ground Design

In this task, Draw background for the character that made from Project 1A.

For this assignment, I tried to search reference from Internet too. And pick up School picture. The character I created was designed with the idea of appearing in a gag manga, so I chose a school setting as the background design to reflect a more everyday atmosphere. The school is based on the design of a Japanese high school building.

( The Completed image for Project 1B )

The photo of the school I used as a reference for Project 2B wasn’t saved properly, so I couldn’t include it here. However, I’m personally satisfied with how the final design turned out, as it feels quite similar to a school you’d see in a manga. Since I’m not only bad at drawing but also at coloring, I struggled a lot with deciding on the color combinations while creating the background.

Through Projects 1A and 1B, I truly realized just how challenging drawing illustrations can be. Dynamic illustrations, in particular, were especially difficult for me. In the upcoming projects, I’ll be learning more about movement, so I want to do my best, even though drawing isn’t my strong suit.
